How do I support my child with dyslexia?

14 September 2026

If you are concerned that your child may have dyslexia, please don't worry, there is plenty of advice and support available.

What do I do if I think my child has got dyslexia?

The first thing to do is to share your concerns with your child's school. They will be able to give you advice about your child's progress and what the next steps should be. You can also contact us for further advice.

How do I tell my child that they might have dyslexia?

It is up to you whether you share this information with your child at this stage, or whether you wait until after they have been diagnosed. One of the most important messages to get across is that there is nothing wrong with them, dyslexia is about learning differently, and it is not linked to intelligence.

Famous individuals with dyslexia

It can be helpful and reassuring for children to learn about famous individuals who have dyslexia, such as Walt Disney or Keira Knightley.

Should I get my child tested for dyslexia?

If you or your child's school feel that a dyslexia assessment would help to provide them with the support they need, then we can assess them through an online dyslexia assessment. Please contact us to make a booking.
